Teen texting + driving = safety concern for Colorado Springs New Homes

• 97 percent of Colorado teens believe text messaging while driving is dangers • 81 percent believe there should be legal limitation on cell phone use – including text messaging – while driving • 74 percent of Colorado teens do not know traffic laws for cell phone use • 73 percent said strict driving penalties – like license relinquishment – would make them less likely to text message while driving • 38 percent of Colorado teens admitted to taking their eyes off the road when texting while driving Overall, “about 66 percent of Colorado teens admitted to talking on the phone while driving compared to a national average of 51 percent,” and “nearly 51 percent of teens admitted to text messaging while driving compared to a national average of 46 percent.” At Colorado Springs New Homes we realize new technology makes communication easier and more convenient, but we also adamantly acknowledge that texting while driving is distracting and unacceptable. Our teenagers are endangering themselves and others when they text and drive, and we can make our city safer if we bring this to the forefront of our teenagers’ awareness.
