winterize.jpgWell, having had our typical cold Halloween (although without snow this time) and a number of gloomy overcast days recently, at least at Colorado Springs New Homes, we can likely say that fall is really here, and winter is soon to follow. We are probably going to see a few more warm days here at Colorado Springs New Homes, but for the most part the season is changing. With that in mind, I’d like to direct you to this Energy Star Home Advisor web page, with thanks to The Gazette. This is basically a page where you enter your zip code and the types of energy you use in your home, and you are given a list of money- and energy-saving tips.

After filling out the information for my home, for instance, I received a list of about ten tips, including ideas such as:

• Replace your lights with Energy Star lighting

• Seal air leaks in your home

• Install a programmable thermostat

Most of the tips seem to require money up front, but you will save money on your Colorado Springs New Homes energy bill in the long run; for example, the programmable thermostat can save you $150 every year if used properly. (Also visit the Alliance to Save Energy and MXenergy for more energy-saving information.)

So take a look, consider winterizing your Colorado Springs New Homes, and save money this winter season!
