Colorado Springs New Homes: Going, going, green! Some news from Fort Carson bodes well for Colorado Springs new homes real estate, as the local military base is set to host the Army’s largest solar project to date. According to this press release, the “2-megawatt (MW), ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) array....will cover nearly 12 acres at Fort Carson” and “will generate 3,200 megawatt-hours (MWh) of solar power annually, reflecting the U.S. Army’s strong commitment to clean, renewable energy.”

As far as I’m concerned, an upgrade in any one of our military bases is an upgrade in Colorado Springs new homes real estate, as our market is heavily tied to military living and relocation. But this project should do more than just that, as it “represents one of the first major customer-sited projects to emerge from Colorado’s voter-led initiative to make the state a leading user of renewable energy.” This is also part of an effort to have 20 percent of our state’s power come from renewable energy by the year 2020. So the factors of:

• upgrading a local military base

• upgrading our city’s energy resources

• and instituting an upgrade led by voters

all make this a promising prospect for improving our city’s value, attracting energy-conscious buyers, and creating more military jobs, thereby turning this neat project into great news for Colorado Springs new homes real estate.
