Colorado Springs New Homes: T. Rowe PriceThe Colorado Springs New Homes area should benefit from the opening of a second T. Rowe Price building at 2220 Briargate Parkway last week. According to The Colorado Springs Business Journal, the 145,000-square-foot building is "expected to accommodate an additional 650 employees."

I think this is a good example of some behind-the-scenes activity we normally wouldn't hear about but is playing a role in boosting our local economy nevertheless. There are several reasons I say this:

- T. Rowe Price has nearly tripled in assets since opening its first Colorado Springs office in 1998,

- The overall T. Rowe Price campus now has "the potential to accommodate four buildings and about 2,000 employees,"

- and, according to Vice Chairman Edward C. Bernard, "Colorado Springs remains a strong fit with our culture and a critical part of our success. We expect that to continue for many years to come."

So for a stable company like T. Rowe Price to build on past success in the Colorado Springs New Homes area is a great thing for the economy, the eventual turnaround of which will contribute to the real estate market turnaround as well. All that to say: I like this move by T. Rowe Price.
