Colorado Springs New Homes: Manitou Springs "Business is booming" in Manitou Springs - part of the Colorado Springs New Homes area - according to this article from The Gazette. This past summer alone, Manitou Springs posted "increases in sales tax collections as high as 27 percent from the summer before. Additionally, Manitou is becoming more than just a tourist destination, which it is generally known as. Among the interesting facts in the article,

- Manitou Avenue ("the avenue") has become a hot spot for businesses

- a downtown revitalization project has been ongoing since 2003 and will continue until 2010

- the Business Improvement District, created in 2003, has raised money for marketing and other projects

- the historical Manitou Spa, once considered an "eyesore," is becoming "a mix of lofts, artist galleries and other businesses" after significant renovation and promises to further boost Manitou's economy

Anyone who has spent time in Manitou Springs knows the town is vastly different than Colorado Springs as a whole. The town has a unique history and vibe, both of which are worth experiencing if you have not already. With its variety of restaurants, businesses and stores, it is not surprising Manitou's economy is thriving. At Colorado Springs New Homes we recommend checking out The Mate' Factor at 966 Manitou Avenue for some delicious herbal tea; be sure to try the Mate' Latte - so good!
