Colorado Springs New Homes: Fort Carson Update
Last week at Colorado Springs New Homes we brought you news
of the forthcoming Fort Carson active-duty
population
boost, which is certainly a beneficial prospect for our economy. A recent
post on the Colorado Springs Business Journal
Blog, however, brings up an
interesting question worth addressing: "Will the existing post be able to
handle all the new folks?" Well, according to Fort Carson's public affairs
office - yes.
The blog post reports "Garrison Commander Col. Eugene Smith
provided the following preliminary look at the 2008 budget," which follows:
2007
 Facilities for
Explosive Ordinance Disposal Companies: $18,000,000
2008
 Unit Operations
Facilities: $72,000,000
 Barracks:
$53,000,000
 Hospital Addition
and Dental Clinic: $18,000,000
 Army Family
Housing Privatization: $98,300,000
Base privatization
contractor GMH is "working on a three-year contract to build 404 new living
units," set for a late-2009 completion.
So the overall picture is one of preparation for Fort
Carson, as they are budgeting for their continued growth. At Colorado Springs
New Homes we are also preparing for the growth as ready ourselves for the
economic and housing boosts, so we look forward with high anticipation to
further Fort Carson developments.
