A significant cog in the Colorado Springs New Homes
community is our militarypopulation.
The Air Force Academy and Fort Carson, among others bases, are incredibly
important players in our local economy. Recent
news from The Gazette translates into
huge potential for our economy's future: by 2013, Fort Carson will "add an
additional 4,877 soldiers...pushing its active-duty population to nearly 30,000
and pumping millions of dollars into local coffers." The move:
 "could bring in
as much as an extra $250 million per year to Colorado businesses and create
more than 3,000 civilian jobs
 will require "$400
million in additional construction at the post," according to U.S. Senator Ken
Salazar
 could add 418,000
acres to the Piñon Canyon
training area east of Trinidad
This - along with
troops moving to Fort Carson from Fort Hood, Texas, in accordance with the
federal Base Realignment and Closure Commission - will add an estimated 7,500
family members to the Colorado Springs New Homes area and will cause Fort
Carson to become "one of the largest installations in the Army." This is going
to be a great boost to our city's economy, and will likely help accelerate the
housing market turnaround as well, so we're looking forward to watching this develop
at Colorado Springs New Homes.
