Colorado Springs New Homes Local Developer SuedHere's an interesting story about a Colorado Springs New Homes area developer now under fire for leaving a subdivision unfinished. According to The Gazette, "County commissioners voted Thursday to sue the developers of the Falcon Heights subdivision for bailing on the project before paving roads and installing drainage as promised." The subdivision has been without these features for close to a decade, and El Paso County now will seek "more than $650,000" for the improvements. According to the article:

- Telephone wires remain exposed

- 3.5 miles of gravel road still remain

- the lawsuit comes "after the county was unable to collect the developers' bond"

Please note the following is strictly my opinion: I understand our market is not at its finest right now, and developing can be a process that takes time, but to have an unfinished development -- with people living in it -- for close to ten years to me is not a good way to help the market. Granted, I don't know the circumstances surrounding the aborted project, but seeing as how requests for completion have been longstanding, I don't understand why it had to come to this.
