• The Cheyenne Mountain U.S. Northern Command center will see a $3.2 million upgrade • $142 million will pay for the continuing Pueblo Chemical Depot cleanup • Fort Carson, Peterson AFB and Schriever AFB will likely see additional funding in a separate 2008 military construction appropriations budget Obviously, the main draw here is the funding toward our local bases and the Cheyenne Mountain center, but the bill is awaiting President Bush’s signature after recently receiving Congress’ approval. The Colorado Springs New Homes community certainly involves a lot of military housing and relocation, so any good news for the local bases is good news for all of us, because our military is inextricably tied to our economy and vice versa; thus, any improvement in military funding or facilities means a good return for our economy and therefore our housing market, so slowly but surely another wheel is in motion to help turn around our slumping Colorado Springs New Homes market.
